Former Leeds United striker Richard Cresswell expects goals from Ryan Edmondson
Ryan Edmondson’s loan move from Leeds United to League Two promotion chasers Port Vale could be the move the striker has been craving.
The 20-year-old spent the first half of this season on loan at Fleetwood Town in League One but found games hard to come by.
Former academy coach and ex-Whites striker Richard Cresswell believes that his move to the Potteries could be a launchpad for his career.

“At Leeds, he scored plenty of goals at youth level,” Cresswell said on BBC Radio Stoke, “At Under-18s, he did really well and at under 23s and he managed to get into some of the England squads. So, he has got high quality.
“What he does bring is he is 6ft 2in and the boy can run. He will close people down and push people into mistakes. Ultimately he can score goals.
“He went up to Aberdeen on loan from Leeds to start with and started off really well but then he got a really bad ankle injury so that slowed him down.
“It has been a bit stop-start at Fleetwood because of Covid but this opportunity at Port Vale gives him a great chance.”
A positive step backwards
Dropping a division might be seen as a negative by many Leeds United fans but it could actually end up being the best move Edmondson ever makes in his career.

Sure the odd goal in League One during his limited opportunities might have satisfied some but what good is a loan to a lower league club if he isn’t playing week in, week out?
Going down to League Two would have been a kick in the teeth for Edmondson but he has all the ability to go there and score a hat-full of goals for the Valiants and help fire them to a potential promotion.
This is a good move for the 20-year-old who coud return to Elland Road next season a changed player and Cresswell’s confidence in him will only boost him at his new club.
