Footage emerging on social media shows Leeds United midfielder Weston McKennie may not fully trust Luke Ayling
Leeds United defender Luke Ayling has not had the best of times in the past few months and his errors have come under scrutiny.
Still Javi Gracia’s first choice, the English defender has been playing ahead of Rasmus Kristensen there and the time may have come to drop him for good.
Recent matchday footage has surfaced on social media that shows compilations of Ayling defending 1v1 situations in the Premier League.
On a number of occasions, especially when Weston McKennie is in the lineup, one can see him covering for the 31-year-old as he expects him to be beaten by the onrushing attacker.
More often than not, he’s been proven right for doubting Ayling’s ability to defend these situations and has been called into action with the senior player beaten quite easily.
Ayling is loved by the fans and will forever be remembered for his efforts in getting Leeds back to the Premier League and also in Marcelo Bielsa’s last full season at the club.
There’s no denying that he’s an extremely hard-working player, but there’s no shame in admitting that his best days are behind him.

Being someone who used to win his team points, Ayling is now costing them and that’s happening far too often and it cannot be accepted every week.
Leeds are in a relegation battle and every point lost can have significant ramifications and the difference between survival and going down may come down to occasions like these.
