Feyenoord share 'save the date' for Luis Sinisterra as announcement made for Leeds United star

Feyenoord have planned an “official farewell” to Luis Sinisterra after the winger left Rotterdam to join Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

As confirmed on the Dutch club’s official Instagram account on 1 November, Feyenoord have planned an occasion to mark Sinisterra’s and Marco Senesi’s spells at De Kuip on 13 November.

Feyenoord’s official post says: “Save the date! #MakingMemories 13/11/2022 for official farewell to Marco Senesi and Luis Sinisterra.”

Sinisterra and Senesi, who’s now at Bournemouth, both replied to the post saying: “See you soon/later.”

Official farewell?

This is odd.

It’s rare that a player is welcomed back to his former club a few months after leaving to get an official farewell.

Feyenoord play at home against Excelsior in the Dutch Eredivise on 13 November so we imagine that Sinisterra and Senesi will more than likely get their special goodbye then.

Maybe they’ll turn up on the pitch at halftime or before the game.

Either way, it’s not something you usually see clubs doing in England.

But it just shows how good Sinisterra did at Feyenoord, how well he left them and how much he’s adored by their fans.

Would Leeds fans show respect to Kalvin Phillips or Raphinha if they came to Elland Road for a farewell?

While the majority would, you can imagine that there’ll be an isolated few who’d boo and jeer.

English football fans can learn a lot from those on the continent for instances such as this.

Sinisterra’s had a good start at Leeds but he’s been injured a few times and that red card he got against Aston Villa shows that he needs to quell some disciplinary issues too.

But on the whole, we’re happy with the Colombian and cannot wait to see how he develops.

In other Leeds United news, two senior players have been axed to the Leeds reserves after a snub by Marsch.
