Fenerbahce president holds meeting with Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa

Fenerbahce president Ali Koc reportedly held talks with Marcelo Bielsa as he enters the final few months of his Leeds United deal.

According to Turkish media outlet Fanatik, Bielsa is on a three-man shortlist for taking over at the club.

It’s understood that should the Argentine leave Leeds, he is keen on moving to Fenerbahce after speaking with the club hierarchy.

Surely ludicrous?

Not once has Bielsa spoken about his intentions of managing another club or even hinting that he’s making such plans.

The kind of methodical character he is, he will be thinking about nothing more than the next game and how to get Leeds out of this relegation dog fight.

Had he been in talks with other clubs, surely he would’ve informed Victor Orta and co about his plans for the future.

He’s been treated so well at Elland Road and he will never go behind the club’s back to finalise another job.

The most likely scenario after he leaves would be that he’ll take some time to assess his future and then decide where he wants to go next.

Given what he’s achieved at Leeds, his stock is probably higher than it’s ever been and one would wonder whether a move to Turkey makes sense.

Fenerbahce may be a historic club, but it’s clearly not a step up from the Premier League.

He could have some of France’s or Germany’s big teams take a punt on him rather than moving to an inferior league.
