FC Koln may be compelled to cash in on Leeds United target Timo Hubers

FC Koln’s financial distress could reportedly see them cashing in on Leeds United target and German centre-back Timo Hubers.

According to the Daily Mail, the Whites along with Newcastle and West Ham are keen on signing the 25-year-old defender.

However, in a recent update from German publication Bild, the cash-strapped Bundesliga club may be forced to sell him as they’ve made losses to the tune of £66million.

Worth it?

It is believed that a fee in the region of £6million could be enough for Leeds to secure his services this summer.

However, centre-back is clearly not a position that they need to strengthen in, as of now.

Liam Cooper is back from injury and likely to be at the club for the next few years.

Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Pascal Struijk have shared the workload amongst themselves pretty well while Leo Hjelde and Charlie Cresswell have also impressed when handed a chance.

The positions they need to strengthen is are left-back, central midfield, attacking midfield as well as finding a new number nine.

Hubers should not be on the top of their transfer list this summer as they’ve got more telling problems to solve.

It remains to be seen whether Jesse Marsch turns to his former clubs or his contacts in the United States to spot some under the radar players who can add value to this Leeds side.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
