Farke shock: Unexpected Leeds United update on manager after Elland Road scenes
Daniel Farke is facing pressure from a small number of audibly frustrated Leeds United fans, according to Beren Cross.
The Athletic journalist reports [23 January] that despite the Whites sitting atop the Championship table after 28 games, dissent has been heard from the match-going supporters as well as on social media.
While the manager’s failure to take Leeds back to the Premier League last season is seen as a “blot” on his CV, it is the entertainment and atmosphere taking hits this term amid rare calls for his sacking.
“The complaints do not tend to be about results, though. It is the entertainment and the atmosphere,” he wrote.
“Elland Road regulars have to agree the stadium has rarely reached that feral, out-of-body, launch-yourself-four-rows state since relegation.”
Daniel Farke sack calls baffling at Leeds United
There is no pleasing some football fans, and that is absolutely clear here as Leeds are sitting atop the Championship table, one point above Sheffield United and three points above Burnley.
Of course, supporters have every right to be cautious after how the Whites missed out on promotion last season, narrowly losing 1-0 to Southampton in the Championship play-off final.
With Joel Piroe, Brenden Aaronson, Manor Solomon and Dan James firing on all cylinders in attack, goals have been flowing at Elland Road, with no other club scoring more this season.
Farke’s defence has also looked water-tight in recent weeks, now on a three-game run without conceding, and he certainly has the likes of Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk and Jayden Bogle to thank.

The main concern would be the lack of depth in the squad, which has seen fans want some reinforcements signed during the winter transfer window, but Leeds have yet to act this month.
Unless something drastic were to happen, missing out on promotion does not look to be an option this season.
If the problem for some supporters is the atmosphere, make some more noise at Elland Road.
