'Fantastic' – Exclusive: Paul Robinson responds as US billionaire linked with Leeds takeover
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has said that an injection of funds into Leeds this January would be “fantastic” and could be the boost the club needs to seal promotion.
The subject of a Leeds takeover made the news again this week after it was reported that US billionaire James Pallotta could join QSI in making a bid for the club.
MOT Leeds News revealed that QSI wanted to buy more of the club than Radrizzani was willing to sell.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, we asked Robinson if the news about Pallotta could make a QSI investment in January more likely.
“We’re always hearing about takeovers at Leeds,” Robinson said. “Getting a cash injection in January would be fantastic and it could give us the boost we need to reach the Premier League.
“If Leeds had invested in a 20-goal-a-season striker and a left-winger last January, we would have been promoted last year.
“You could potentially say the same again this season. There’s clearly not much money to spend, so any kind of investment or influx of money to give Leeds that push to the Premier League would be really welcome.”
Leeds are currently looking to bring in a winger and a striker after both Jack Clarke and Eddie Nketiah were recalled from their loan moves early.
Che Adams is the big name who’s been linked to Leeds and he’s said to be the club’s number one January target.
Financial fair play is also an issue for Leeds, however, and the club can’t spend a lot of money this January without falling foul of the regulations – unless they decide to take an all-out punt in getting into the Premier League.
