Fabrizio Romano shares transfer update on Lyon attacker Tete amid links with Leeds United and Leicester City
Leeds United are reportedly focusing on Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie while Leicester are understood to be closing in on Lyon attacker Tete.
According to Fabrizio Romano, both Premier League sides have been linked with Tete, but Leicester’s interest appears to be more solidified.
They’re in advanced talks with the 22-year-old and look to complete a move for him ahead of the transfer deadline.
Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Leicester City are in advanced talks to sign Brazilian winger Tete from Olympique Lyon. Discussions are now at final stages. Understand Leeds United are focused on Weston McKennie deal despite links with Tete.”
Move on?
It’s surprising to see Leeds being linked with a winger when there has been no word of any of their first-team players leaving this month.
Jack Harrison has been linked with a move away from the club, but he does not appear to be on his way out in the January transfer window.
Hopefully, he stays and these Tete links were nothing but agent driven speculation to get Leicester to pay more than what they need to.

He seems to be in advanced talks with them and looks likely to join them with McKennie moving to Elland Road this month.
It’s hard to fathom Leeds making four major January signings as they’ve tended to not dip their toes into the winter market in the past.
Even three is surprisingly high but we will be stunned if they are serious about Tete and do end up making an offer for him.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites appear to be on the cusp of another January signing as a player’s agent jets into the United Kingdom to conduct final transfer talks.
