Fabrizio Romano shares transfer update on Leeds United defender Cody Drameh with medical scheduled at Luton Town
Leeds United defender Cody Drameh is reportedly on his way to Luton Town to undergo his medical on 26 January.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the 21-year-old is set to complete his loan move to Luton on Thursday having been linked with a move all month.
There’s no option to buy in the deal as Jesse Marsch wants the right-back to be part of the squad for the 2023/24 season.
Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Cody Drameh, on his way to medical tests as new Luton Town player — as loan deal from Leeds United will be completed today. No clauses included, Drameh will be back in the summer as Marsch wants him to be part of Leeds 23/24 squad.”
Good move
It’s good to see Drameh going but only on a temporary basis as he’s got tremendous potential and can be a first-team player in the coming years.
Due to Rasmus Kristensen’s signing, he has been pushed further down the pecking order, but going to Luton is the ideal opportunity for him to prove that he’s undervalued at Elland Road.
Marsch wants him next season which clearly means that he’s seen enough to make these kinds of assurances to him.

However, Leeds need to pay heed to his contract situation as if he’s unwilling to sign a new deal over the summer, he will be in the final year of his contract.
Not giving him adequate game time next season could mean he runs down his contract at the club and leaves for free in June 2024.
It’s important that Marsch or whoever the Leeds manager is gives Drameh game time as he’s good enough to warrant a rotation spot as well as getting starts in the cup.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites appear to be on the cusp of another January signing as a player’s agent jets into the United Kingdom to conduct final transfer talks.
