Fabrizio Romano: Leeds United could sign Noa Lang in January

Leeds United could have the chance to sign Noa Lang from Club Brugge in January but it could cost £30.6million, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Whites had the 23-year-old on their radar over the summer but opted not to make a solid move to sign him as Brugge had already lost one attacker in Charles De Ketelaere to AC Milan and were not keen on Lang moving at the same time.

The money that the Belgian champions earned from selling De Ketelaere, another Leeds summer target, means they aren’t in need of selling another player right now and will therefore demand a big fee to let him go.

“Linked with Leeds United in the summer, Noa Lang has chances to leave in January, but Club Brugge are in very positive moment now and so they’d only sell in case they receive a good proposal,” Romano said to CaughtOffside.

“There’s still nothing concrete now, too early – asking price has always been around €30-35m (£26.2-30.6million).”

Marcelo Bielsa had the chance to sign Lang while he was Leeds boss but he chose to turn down that opportunity due to his poor defensive work rate, as reported by The Athletic’s Phil Hay [3 September 2021]

Wrong area

If the past two matches have taught Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch anything it should be that it is not the attack that needs some serious work right now but the defence.

Leeds United have scored seven times in the past two games which suggests that there is more than enough talent in the final third right now but they have conceded seven times in that same period.

They came out on the right side of a 4-3 thriller against Bournemouth but were then beaten by Tottenham Hotspur by the same scoreline despite leading on three separate occasions.

A new centre-half has to be the priority in January with a proper left-back on the agenda too having seen Pascal Struijk deputise in that position all season thanks to Junior Firpo’s injury problems.

With Rodrigo and Crysencio Summerville in the form of their lives, the last thing Marsch needs to be concerned about is where his goals are coming from right now.

In other Leeds United news, an Aston Villa starlet was left in awe of one Whites sensation after the whirlwind defeat to Spurs.
