Fabrizio Romano shares major update on Arsenal-Raphinha amid Leeds United exit links

Arsenal have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Leeds United attacker Raphinha in the summer, despite his Barcelona links.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish side are still leading the race for the Brazilian.

However, to secure his services, they will have to beat the Gunners who have made contact with the club.

Speaking on his Here We Go Podcast, Romano said, “I can tell you that Arsenal also ask for information about Raphinha of Leeds.

“Barcelona are leading the race for Raphinha. But also Arsenal ask for information for Raphinha.

“They are not leading the race. They are looking for that kind of player.

“So Gakpo is a player they are following, but also Raphinha is a player they like. But it’s really complicated because Barcelona are leading the race.”

Battle heating up

Arsenal are yet another club to show an interest in Raphinha.

The Brazilian has taken his game from strength to strength at Elland Road and is now eyed by the European giants.

He has the ability to achieve world beater status but that will be possible only if he plays in the Champions League.

Barcelona look all set to deliver that and currently, even Arsenal are on course to finish in the top four.

Should the Gunners do that and Raphinha aims to stay in the Premier League then he could fancy a switch to North London.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
