Fabrizio Romano shares Chelsea stance on Leeds United ace Raphinha after Todd Boehly becomes chairman

Chelsea chairman and interim sporting director explored the situation to sign Leeds United attacker Raphinha in this transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the American billionaire considered a move for the Brazilian while Tottenham have also told Leeds that they intend on making an offer for him.

Arsenal made an opening offer for the 25-year-old which fell short of the Whites’ valuation and they ended up rejecting it.

Via his personal Twitter account, the Sky Sports journalist wrote, “Raphinha situation. Arsenal proposal reported by David Ornstein, not enough for Leeds. Tottenham told Leeds they want to make a bid; Barça, personal terms agreed months ago but Leeds will never accept €40/45m. Todd Boehly explored situation for Chelsea.”

Race heating up

It seems that every day a new team is interested in signing Raphinha this summer and there are plenty of twists throughout.

The Whites are resigned to losing the Brazilian, but the least they can do is hope and pray that they’re compensated heavily.

Given the calibre of teams interested, they can demand top money in exchange of the attacker’s services.

Barcelona are unlikely to get into a bidding war as they do not have the financial muscle of some of the Premier League’s top clubs.

Chelsea do seem to be the ideal destination for Raphinha should a move to the Camp Nou fall through.

It remains to be seen where he ends up, but this is an ideal time for Victor Orta to spark a bidding war and sell his player to the highest bidder.

In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has shared if a ‘Sensational’ defensive midfielder has agreed terms for an Elland Road switch and become the club’s fourth summer signing.
