Ezgjan Alioski could still sign Leeds deal after contract expires on Thursday - Smyth

Ezgjan Alioski could still sign an extension to his Leeds United contract after his current deal expires on Thursday.

The Macedonian international will be a free agent this week, but he could still return to Elland Road after that if his current issue is resolved.

Graham Smyth shared the update over the weekend, insisting that the Whites want it sorting before that deadline.

Writing in an official Q&A for the Yorkshire Evening Post on Sunday, Smyth shared the update that could drag on this saga.

“As for Gjanni Alioski, his contract runs out on Thursday and I expect from a logistics point of view that probably adds some level of difficulty,” he said.

“It’d be much simpler for him to remain if he put pen to paper before the deal expires. It doesn’t mean he won’t or can’t stay and I don’t get the feeling Leeds have put a strict deadline on it just yet.”

Get it done.

Alioski is the perfect player to have in the squad.

He will always keep morale high with his crazy antics, but his ability and fitness make him the perfect squad player.

Bielsa will always have room for him in his squad, with not many likely putting in higher running numbers every single week.

Plenty of clubs have been linked with a move for Alioski in the past couple of months, but even they can’t seem to get a deal over the line easily.

It is turning into a saga that could end quite simply, if you pay the defender the most money, he will likely sign on the dotted line.

That could well end up being Leeds, but they don’t seem to budging on this final contract offer.
