Everton lead race to sign Leeds United target Kerr Smith
Leeds United linked Kerr Smith has now seen Everton open talks to secure his services, according to a report in TEAMtalk.
The 16-year-old has been tracked by the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Southampton, but it appears that the Toffees are now the favourites.
Currently plying his trade at Dundee United, Smith, a centre-back cum right-back, has trained at Man United, Everton and Aston Villa in the past.
Must sign him
Smith’s not just any youngster but is actually a bright prospect who’s been tracked by some of the best clubs in England.
Clubs like Liverpool, Man United and even Southampton spend a lot on their scouting and youth recruitment and if they’ve identified the same player that Leeds have, there clearly is something worth being awestruck about.
Everton are not in the best shape currently and their youth academy is not as good as the one at Thorp Arch.
Should Leeds sign Smith, within a year he could be viewed as a contender for a senior team call up.
Knowing how Marcelo Bielsa operates, he sees the academy as an extension of the first team and has the youngsters training with the seniors very often.
Thorp Arch is the ideal place for youngsters to develop and hone their skills and we’re hoping that Leeds can convince him to sign as soon as possible once the window opens.
