Phil Hay: Rodrigo and Raphinha injuries doing the rounds
Phil Hay has heard rumours of Raphinha and Rodrigo being unavailable for Leeds United as they take on Tottenham Hotspur later today (Sunday).
In his Q&A for The Athletic, Hay was asked about the availability of the Leeds duo after speculation that they’ll miss the game.
To which he responded, “I’ve seen the rumours doing the rounds. Will check.
“Yet to hear about Raphinha. He travelled back in plenty of time this time and Bielsa didn’t mention him as being injured on Friday.”
Let’s hope they’re fit
Leeds are already plagued by plenty of injuries and the last thing that they would want is to have two of their best attacking players ruled out.
Patrick Bamford is already nursing a lengthy injury and is not going to be available for a while, which means that Raphinha has to carry the biggest goal-scoring threat.
Rodrigo, who’s been deployed in midfield continually by Marcelo Bielsa, has led the line in Bamford’s stead but has not done a good enough job as the England international.
Dan James and Jack Harrison too, have failed to impress this season and have been non-existent attacking threats for the Whites.
This could be the ideal game for the two of them to silence their critics and put in a match-winning display for the Whites.
If Rodrigo and Raphinha are actually ruled out, then Bielsa will certainly start James and Harrison which may come back to haunt him.
As of now, it seems to be mere speculation so we shall wait and see as to whether they’re seriously injured or it’s just the press having a field day with the Leeds fans.
