Enzo Maresca makes ‘Huge’ Leeds United and Leicester admission
Enzo Maresca believes the upcoming Championship clash between Leeds United and Leicester City on Friday 23 February is more important for the Whites.
The Foxes are currently leading the Championship table, but if Leeds can claim victory, the gap between the two could be reduced to just six points.
Daniel Farke’s side won the reverse fixture at the King Power Stadium in November, but the Leicester boss has not shown any worries about the potential six-pointer.
Speaking to BBC Sport Leicester journalist Owynn Palmer-Atkin via X on Thursday (22 February), Maresca said: “A huge game for Leeds. For us? It’s just another game,” clarifying that the Whites are chasing Leicester, who have room at the top of the table.
Leeds United could hand major blow to Leicester City
Maresca will never admit how important the match between the two sides is, but he will know that the result could have a devastating impact on Leicester’s chances of winning the league.
Farke’s side has won their last eight matches in the Championship, climbing above Ipswich Town and Southampton, while Leicester will come into the game off the back of a defeat to Middlesbrough.
The visitors have maintained a good distance at the top of the league from very early on the season, but that could be about to change in the run-in.

A win for Leeds on Friday 23 February could open up the title race, really for the first time in the current campaign, with Ipswich and Southampton also within touching distance.
The Leicester boss will be careful about what he says to the media but his messages to his squad will be far more worrisome and cautious, with any slip-up vital at this point.
