‘Entirely possible’ – Athletic journalist shares Cantwell update amid reported Leeds interest

Leeds United are closing in on the signing of midfielder Michael Cuisance from Bayern Munich, but that isn’t to say they will stop their business there.

It was reported on Tuesday by talkSPORT that the Whites will move on to Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell once the deal for the Frenchman is wrapped up.

Cantwell was dropped by Daniel Farke completely for the clash with Bournemouth on Sunday, although that may change this weekend.

The Athletic journalist Michael Bailey has claimed that Cantwell could be in line to feature for Norwich against Derby this weekend.

“Remember how lively Sunday was?” Bailey asked.

“It hasn’t half been quiet since.

“Still entirely possible both Todd Cantwell and Emi Buendia feature against Derby on Saturday lunchtime, but it’s all now on their reaction.”

Move to Leeds not imminent

It was reported last week that the Whites had been in talks over a potential £15million deal for Cantwell, although no agreement was reached [PA Sports].

If the potential move had progressed past this stage, there would be little to no chance of the 22-year-old featuring in the Championship this weekend.

Farke publically slammed the playmaker over his goal involvements recently, claiming that he would rather play his kit-man against Bournemouth.

The fact that any potential deal is imminent isn’t a massive problem. Premier League and EFL clubs have an extended deadline of October 16th for deals between them so there’s plenty of time.
