‘Enormous’ – Jamie Redknapp details what Leeds will add to the Premier League

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has said that the Leeds United fans will add an “enormous amount” to the Premier League.

He also said that manager Marcelo Bielsa has done a “really good job” and that Leeds deserve to win their way back into the top flight.

Redknapp was talking on The Football Show on Sky Sports (Monday, 10.30am).

“Going to Elland Road, it was such an intimidating place, and they were a really good side when they won the league,” Redknapp said.

“Gary Speed, Gary McAllister, Gordon Strachan… They were a really good side and the atmosphere was so intimidating.

“Bielsa has done a really good job there and Leeds will certainly add to the Premier League with the fans and the noise they make.

“They deserve it, they’ve had a lot of pain at that club. They will add an enormous amount to what we have in the Premier League.”

Leeds have consistently sold out Elland Road this season and the atmosphere the fans have generated there in the Championship is awe-inspiring.

We can only imagine what the first game back in the Premier League would be like. And as for the return of Man United… Just the thought gets the hairs on the back of the back standing on end.

Leeds have plans to expand Elland Road to a 50,000 capacity if they’re promoted and that would make it the eighth biggest in the Premier League.

Before that, though, Leeds have to win promotion. And before that can happen, the Championship needs to resume in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.
