Emma Jones hits back at Robbie Savage after bold Leeds-Premier League claim

Robbie Savage has questioned whether or not Leeds United could end up in the same position as Sheffield United next season.

The Blades have only just won their first in this campaign after finishing in the top half of the Premier League last season – something the Whites must watch out for.

Savage made the claim after admitting that Marcelo Bielsa is leading the most entertaining side of the division this season.

Speaking for William Hill, Savage claimed that being the entertainers of the Premier League doesn’t always end well.

“Are they the most entertaining team? Yes, they are,” he said.

“Reasons being – 41% of their league matches have involved five or more goals, scored 20 goals from open play, only Liverpool have scored more. 259 total shots in league games, only Liverpool have had more, and on the other end of the scale, they’ve conceded 33 league goals, only West Brom have conceded more.

“They are entertainment. But, Sheffield United were the entertainers last year, will Leeds find themselves in the position Sheff United are next season?

Emma Jones hit back at that claim, as she believes that Savage can’t make up his mind when talking about the Whites each month.

“I don’t think so. But, let’s revisit this next season because you’ll change your mind about 12 times between now and then anyway.”

It’s an interesting claim that Savage makes, but there is a simple argument that will make it fall away with ease.

Sheffield United weren’t proactive in the transfer window this summer, and instead, Chris Wilder wasted money on the likes of Rhian Brewster.

Leeds can attract much bigger names, as they have proven with the likes of Raphinha and Rodrigo – something we can thank Marcelo Bielsa for.

The Whites will be looking to keep their spot in the Premier League this season, and then pushing forward and looking to improve each year.

Andrea Radrizzani has admitted that his turnaround of the club is still not complete, proving that just getting to the Premier League isn’t where we are stopping.

Savage needs to be looking upwards, not backwards, and that counts for next season too – bring it on.
