Emma Jones and Jermaine Beckford react to Kalvin Phillips' Euros debut

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is the talk of Europe after guiding England to victory over Croatia at the European Championship.

The Yorkshire Pirlo proved to spectators exactly why he has been dubbed that, pulling the strings in the middle of the park.

Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate opted to hand Phillips a more attacking role in the starting line-up, with Declan Rice doing more of the sitting back of the defensive midfield duo.

His faith in the Whites star was rewarded with a perfect assist, and Official Leeds Utd Podcast presenters Emma Jones and Jermaine Beckford were blown away, reacting thus on their respective Twitter accounts:

Three Lions legend in the making?

Phillips is already a Leeds hero and a legend in the making, and he could soon be achieving that status for England.

He has just nine caps for the Three Lions but is already endearing himself to the whole nation, and winning the Euros will be huge for him.

Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa has been duly credited for bringing out the best in him, and rightly so.

The Argentine trainer and tactician will continue to demand more from Phillips, and we are likely to have a much better player in our hands at next summer’s World Cup.

The top teams across Europe would have been alerted by his performance against Croatia if they had not taken note of him before, and Director of Football Victor Orta could have his phone ringing endlessly in the coming days of the summer transfer window.

We have got a superstar in the making, and all eyes will now be on him in England’s group stage games against Scotland and the Czech Republic.
