Elia Caprile leaves Leeds United to join S.S.C. Bari in permanent transfer
Elia Caprile has left Leeds United to join S.S.C. Bari in a “permanent” transfer, the club have confirmed via their official website on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old joined the Whites from Chievo Verona in January 2020. Leeds confirm on 13 July that he leaves the club without making a senior appearance for the Whites.
The youngster joined Italian Serie C side Aurora Pro Patria 1919 on loan last season, where he made a strong impression.
Good move
It’s really surprising that it has taken this long to confirm the transfer.
Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio on Tuesday (28 June), shared an image of Caprile where he had his medical with Bari.

It should have been done and dusted long before, but nevertheless, the youngster has finally secured his move away from Elland Road.
Caprile is a highly-talented player but he was still a third-choice goalkeeper for the club before he left last summer to join Pro Patria on loan.
Last season, he really impressed in Italy, but it was not enough to persuade Jesse Marsch that he could challenge Illan Meslier for the first-choice spot.
It’s good for his career that he gets regular games elsewhere. Bari are one of the most well-supported clubs in Italy, and the youngster has probably picked the right club for his development.
It remains to be seen if Marsch will sign an experienced goalkeeper this summer to provide competition for Meslier.
