Elia Caprile could be set for Leeds United transfer talk if club gets relegated

Leeds United goalkeeper Elia Caprile has enjoyed a brilliant season in Italy and his agent has shed light on his future plans.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at third-tier Italian side Pro Patria and he dreams of playing for Napoli someday.

He has impressed heavily, making 38 appearances in all competitions this season.

Graziano Battistini, the player’s representative, has told Radio station, Kiss Kiss Napoli, that he will return to Leeds in the summer, but if the club gets relegated the scenario could change easily.

“The father is a true Neapolitan. Elia is part of an important reality like Leeds. We will discuss with the club at the end of the year, we have not spoken with Giuntoli,” said the player’s agent.

“Definitely playing with Napoli is a boy’s dream, but it is useless to raise fuss. Elia is from Leeds, which is a great club. They are not placed in the ranking, in case of relegation all the scenarios change.

“He is doing well, he is a perspective keeper. The director of Pro Patria Turotti was very good at grabbing it.”

Player for the future

Based on what his agent has said, it looks like Leeds see him as a player for the future.

However, a lot will depend on where the Whites finish at the end of the season. If they secure Premier League safety, they are likely to send him on loan again for his development.

If they get relegated, the player’s agent could take him to Italy, and may even look to negotiate a deal with Napoli.

The youngster has conceded 44 goals at the club this season, which may not give a good reading at first glance.

But that’s not true. He has been magnificent. It is his heroics that have kept the club in mid-table in the league, where he managed 12 clean sheets this season.

The youngster is a highly-rated talent, and he has got high ambitions about his future. Jesse Marsch should have a look at him in the summer, and decide whether to keep him in the senior squad for next season.

His contract at Elland Road will expire in 2024, but his agent has hinted that talks will be held, possibly to get a clarification on the club’s future plans.

Illan Meslier and Kristoffer Klaesson are likely to be the two main goalkeepers for the club next season, and chances are high Caprile will move out on loan again.

In other Leeds United news, a BT Sport pundit thinks this decision at Elland Road will ensure the clubs survival.
