EFL decline comment amid Leeds United Andrea Radrizzani Elland Road development

The EFL have declined to comment on Andrea Radrizzani’s attempt to leverage Elland Road as the Leeds United chief attempts to takeover Sampdoria, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Athletic reported on 1 June, that Radrizzani had made an agreement in principle to use Leeds’ historical home as collateral for a £26million loan needed to buy the soon-to-be Serie B club.

The YEP attempted to contact the Premier League and EFL for comment, but both organisations refused to respond.

“The YEP has attempted to obtain responses to this week’s events from Radrizzani, along with 49ers vice president and major Elland Road player Collin Meador, but as of yet, none have been forthcoming,” they wrote (2 June).

“Leeds United as a club have been unable to comment.

“The EFL have made it clear to the YEP that they cannot comment on individual cases and in any case, Leeds remain under Premier League jurisdiction until the transfer of shares occurs between the two governing bodies next week.

“The Premier League, in turn, had no comment to make and referred the YEP back to the EFL.”

Limbo

It does feel as if Leeds are in limbo at present. Something has to give regarding the ownership situation. Since relegation was confirmed, it’s been chaos. An immediate return to the Premier League is what the fans will expect. Nothing less.

However, at present, it’s hard to envisage that coming to fruition. The lack of communication from the top of the club is staggering and needs addressing. The fan base have been left in the dark. The longer the board wait, the harder the job the incoming manager will have.

A major squad overhaul is required and unless the board act quickly there will be far too much for the incoming boss to deal with. The 49ers are reportedly eager to complete their majority takeover and the sooner that move happens the better for all concerned.

It’s a cloud which has been hanging over the club for far too long. Time for the Whites to progress without Radrizzani spearheading decisions.

In other Leeds United news, the future of one Whites-linked manager is now up in the air after a high-level resignation at his current club.
