Eddie Gray showers praise on Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa

Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has showered heaps of praise on Marcelo Bielsa, saying the Argentine has done extraordinary things.

Gray was speaking the Official Leeds United podcast where he was asked to comment on the impact made by Bielsa at Elland Riad.

Leeds have struggled this season, managing only two wins in the Premier League so far.

However, Gray has praised the massive impact Bielsa has had on the team despite their disappointing start to the season.

Bielsa has galvanised the club and took them to the Premier League. He changed the culture of the club, and implemented an exciting brand of football, which has become their signature style.

Gray said: “To be honest with you, I think he’s done extraordinary things.

“I’ve got to be honest and, I’m not being unfair to the players, but before Marcelo came, some of the players that are playing in the team at the present time, never showed the qualities that were shown since Marcelo came and coached them.”

Bang on

Bielsa is a world-class manager, and the Argentine is being admired by top coaches in the world, including the likes of Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino.

Most of his former players pay homage to him for making a huge impact on their careers. He makes players better.

Kalvin Phillips has said time and again that he would not have reached this level without Bielsa. Likewise, Patrick Bamford, Stuart Dallas, Jack Harrison and young talents like Jamie Shackleton have all improved immensely under him.

This season, Leeds have endured tough luck with injuries. The club hierarchy and Bielsa could be blamed for not adding depth to their squad in the summer, but surely the Argentine could not have foreseen so many players would be suffering from injuries all at the same time.

Leeds need a few wins under their belt to get the momentum going. They are too good a side to be fighting for relegation.
