‘Don’t lose this’ – Victor Orta sends plea to Leeds squad at End of Season awards ceremony

Victor Orta has sent an emotional plea to the Leeds United squad at their end of season awards ceremony on Thursday evening.

The Whites’ director of football has been at the centre of the celebrations this week, famously dancing with binoculars at Derby after the 3-1 win.

Orta was even recorded trying to get into the fans outside Elland Road after sealing promotion but had to be dragged back.

Outside of the chaotic life and persona of Orta, he has played a vital role in bringing Marcelo Bielsa and some of these players to the club.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Orta praised the squad for their humbleness and begged them to keep that moving forward as it will take them far.

“It’s the first time in my life and in a celebration, that all of the players that do me proud are going to all the people and the staff to say thank you,” he said.

“You are special. Please don’t lose this, if we keep this, we are going to perhaps the Europa League – we have the core, please don’t lose these things, don’t lose the humble.”

There is clear ambition at Elland Road, with Orta referencing the Europa League in his speech, but it doesn’t stop there.

Angus Kinnear has even commented on the Whites’ plans to gatecrash back into the Champions League now that they are finally back in the big time.

Ambition is great to have, no one disputes that, but let’s settle down in the Premier League first and start to grow before trying to push back into that top-six that we all so desperately crave at this moment after so long away.
