Doctor issues worst-case scenario for Leeds United defender Sam Byram hamstring injury

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United defender Sam Byram potentially faced months on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the club and the full-back are fortunate that he’s recovered quicker than expected as these can be really difficult to deal with.

Had it not been a mild one, Daniel Farke would have to deal with his absence at least until the new year.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Byram:

“The best case scenario is that it’s a grade 1 mild hamstring injury that isn’t related to his previous chronic issues and this sounds to be the case based on what the club have said.

“The manager even said he’s recovered quicker than expected so that’s a good sign for the team and the player.

“The worst case for Byram would be a Grade 3 rupture and he would’ve been out for months.”

To everyone’s surprise, Byram was signed over the summer and has become an integral part of the first team for Leeds.

Initially, he only returned to train with the club and the assumption was that it would be to find a move to another club.

However, Farke seemed to have been impressed with him and the club ended up signing him on a permanent basis.

It remains to be seen once Junior Firpo is back to being a 100 per cent, who the German picks at left-back.

In other Leeds United news, the club are set to go ahead with a multi-million move as the decision has been made with the media already briefed.
