Doctor issues injury update on Junior Firpo after Leeds United v Ipswich Town

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United defender Junior Firpo is still not at a 100 per cent post his hamstring injury despite coming off the bench v Ipswich Town, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he was out with a Grade 2 tear and he will need a few more games before he’s back to full fitness.

He came off the bench as the Whites beat Ipswich 4-0 on Saturday, 23 December, in the EFL Championship.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Firpo:

“He looked to be out with a Grade 2 partial hamstring tear.

“It’s good news that he’s back in action off the bench and that’s a sign he’s not 100 per cent yet so will need a few more games before he is.

“He has had plenty of setbacks in recent months and the constant start-stop leads to risks and it’s really important to get in a series of matches to build up match fitness and reduce that injury risk.”

Firpo has played only four league games this season and just one of them has been from the opening minute.

The 27-year-old has faced multiple injuries and Djed Spence has played in his stead in the left-back position.

It remains to be seen if the exit-linked full-back ends up leaving Elland Road in January or if Daniel Farke decides to bring him back.

In other Leeds United news, an international player linked with a move to Elland Road is unhappy at his current club and could be on his way out in the January transfer window.
