Doctor issues injury news update on Leeds United defender Sam Byram
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...
Leeds United defender Sam Byram is expected to make his return to full first-team training around Christmas, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that he’s encountered a moderate Grade 2 hamstring tear and he could make his first-team return before the turn of the year.
Daniel Farke stated recently that he expects him to be out for three weeks, which means it’s touch and go over when he’ll be fully fit.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Byram:
“Sounds like potentially a Grade 2 tear so it’s certainly a moderate setback.
“In terms of training, I’d expect that to be around the two to two-and-a-half week mark from Farke’s comments on 11 December.
“Expect him in full training roundabout Christmas ahead of the Boxing Day and final week of 2023 fixtures
“He may even return to the first team before the turn of the year”.

The 30-year-old has been the go to man at left-back for Farke’s side this season in the absence of Junior Firpo.
He has played in 18 league games and has contributed with a goal and assist as well – helping his side’s cause.
With Firpo having faced another setback, the German has asked Djed Spence to feature as a makeshift left-back but the expectations are that once Byram is fit, he’ll return to the playing XI.
In other Leeds United news, an international player linked with a move to Elland Road is unhappy at his current club and could be on his way out in the January transfer window.
