Denmark legend expresses concern over ‘extreme’ Leeds transfer offer potentially in pipeline

Brian Laudrup has admitted that he is hoping Leeds United don’t come in with an “extreme offer” for Rangers winger Ryan Kent.

The former Ibrox hero has suggested that at a sizeable bid for the wide man could leave the Gers facing a difficult decision this summer.

The Whites have emerged as potential suitors for the ex-Liverpool man, and have reportedly already had a bid of around £10 million knocked back.

It has since been reported that Kent is eager to stay at Ibrox if possible this summer, but 82-cap Danish legend Laudrup is concerned that an improved bid from Leeds could force the Gers into reconsidering their stance.

Writing in a column for the Daily Mail, he said: “Looking at Kent, it seems that he is very happy with how things are going and not at all as if he wants to leave.

“He looks really determined and more direct. He is someone who could make the difference this season — who already is, in fact — and will become even better in the future.

“Hopefully Leeds don’t make a really extreme offer because that would be some decision for the club to have to make.”

At this specific moment in time, a move for Kent feels as if it has been made considerably less likely by the player’s personal stance on it happening.

That being said, money talks, especially in Scottish football.

If Leeds were to come back at Rangers with a bid of £14 million, as is being reported in some quarters, that would be double the amount that the Gers paid just 12 months ago.

Would that be too good of a deal for Steven Gerrard’s men to ignore? Marcelo Bielsa will certainly be hoping so.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this EFL forward.
