David Prutton urges Leeds United to ‘maximize’ with Raphinha departure

Leeds United winger Raphinha has been strongly linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The Catalan giants are in the market to sign a winger to replace outgoing winger Ousmane Dembélé who is set to leave the club once his contract will come to an end.

Former Leeds midfielder David Prutton has suggested that the Whites should only let the Brazil international go if the offer is reasonable.

“He’s Leeds United’s asset and they’ve got to try and hold out for the most. Sod Barcelona, just because they can’t pay the going rate,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post. “But I think they’ve absolutely got to make sure that they maximize what they get for him.

“He’s their asset and he’s become an international because he has played for Leeds United and done, at times, very, very well for them.”

Dream Winger

If Raphinha leaves the club in the ongoing transfer window, Leeds will lose one of the most dynamic players in the Premier League right now.

The Brazil international represents everything that you want in a winger nowadays. He has the pace, quality, aggression as well as ability to produce a magical moment which makes him one of the hottest properties in European football.

In the 2021-22 season, the 25-year-old scored 11 goals and provided three assists in a season where Leeds narrowly managed to escape relegation on the final day of the competition.

He played 85% of the Premier League minutes for the Whites and was involved in 35% of the Leeds goals in the 2021-22 league campaign [Transfermarkt].

Even though his preference is to play as a right winger, Raphinha can also be more than useful on the left side because of his sheer pace and brilliant dribbling skills.
