David Ornstein shares £24.5m Leeds United and Jean-Kevin Augustin update
Leeds United have been reportedly told to pay Jean-Kevin Augustin £24.5million after they have been found to have breached his contract.
According to David Ornstein in the Athletic [10 April], FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber found partially in favour of the former Whites forward.
The dispute has been going on since Augustin’s loan move to Elland Road in January 2020 and Leeds have already lost their Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) case.

Ornstein wrote, “The large nature of the fine may represent payment in full to the player for a five-year contract on a reported €90,000 per week. The size of the award will sound a warning to other clubs about the potential consequences of transfer disputes.”
Big money
Leeds looked to avoid paying up for his transfer and now it seems like they’re going to be forced into it and that’s undoubtedly a large chunk.
The Whites aren’t one of the richest clubs in the country so a sum like this is far more than mere pocket change for them.
This will take up a sizeable chunk of the transfer budget and the decision makers behind the scenes including Andrea Radrizzani deserve to be blamed for this.

By the time the window opens, there’s a good chance that new owners will be in charge of the club but still this is something that will have to go out of someone’s pockets.
This signing was one that’s proven to be disastrous for Leeds for more reasons than one and this is the latest twist to it.
It remains to be seen if there are any other developments as the club aren’t expected to just accept this ruling lying down.
