David Norris reckons Leeds United could be keen on Brandon Williams
Leeds United are scouring the transfer market for a left-back, and ex-Whites player David Norris reckons Brandon Williams could be a perfect option for the club.
The Manchester United defender is currently out of favour at Old Trafford, making just four league appearances last term as a result of Luke Shaw’s incredible form.
Williams wants regular playing chance but may have to leave the Theatre of Dream for that to be realised.
Despite the bitter rivalry between both sides, Norris reckons Leeds could look to sign the 20-year-old should head coach Marcelo Bielsa decides he is suitable for his side.
“If he thought this was the missing piece of the jigsaw type player, we’re just going to have to swallow it,” the former Leeds midfielder told This is Futbol.
“We’ll give it a try and we’ll change the history of the past. And we’ll see what happens.
“At this stage I think that it would have to be more that than taking someone on loan to see how it goes.”
No thanks
The last player Leeds brought in from Man Utd proved to be a flop.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson joined us on loan in 2017-18, but struggled to make any impact, and we do not see the need to do business with them at the moment.
Williams is a promising left-back who can also play at right-back, but he does not have a chance of walking into Bielsa’s XI if Gjanni Alioski decides to sign a new deal.
The youngster does not have what it takes to challenge the North Macedonian, and we think Leeds should be going for a better option.
Rivalry aside, there is little sense in having him move from Man Utd bench just to come sit on ours.
We need a player that can come in and hit the ground running, and Williams is not that man.
With Leeds now in the Premier League, fans from both teams are not likely to be pleased should both teams opt to do transfer business.
The youngster could find himself in the middle of two sets of fans unhappy with such a move and struggle under such weight. We need a left-back, but attempting to sign one from Man Utd is not worth the troubles.
