Darragh MacAnthony shares brutal Sam Allardyce verdict live on talkSPORT after Leeds United development

Darragh MacAnthony believes Leeds United have made the right choice in not continuing with Sam Allardyce in the dugout.

Both parties have mutually agreed that the manager’s spell at the club has come to an end, as confirmed by Leeds on Friday (2 June).

The boss couldn’t prevent the Whites from being relegated to the Championship on the final day of the season, winning none of his four games in charge.

“Have they lost the perfect manager to get them back to the Premier League?” host Sam Matterface asked MacAnthony live on talkSPORT.

He replied: “No, they made the right choice. Are you joking me?

“You only have to look at what Vincent Kompany did with Burnley last year. Do you think Sam Allardyce could do what Kompany did with Burnley?”

Change needed

There are no doubting Allardyce’s managerial capabilities, with the boss proving time and again that he can pull off miracles in the dugout.

But not even Big Sam could save Leeds from a dreaded relegation to the Championship, although there will be no blame pointed his way as he only had a handful of games to fix things, with the Whites already doomed before he arrived at the club.

There will, therefore, be no hard feelings between the manager and the West Yorkshire outfit, but change is needed in various areas of the club, and that includes hiring a young and exciting manager that can get the best out of the current group of players.

It will definitely be a difficult task for whoever is brave enough to step foot in the dugout next, but it will also be an exciting challenge, with legendary status awaiting the manager who can bring the club back into the Premier League.

In other Leeds United news, the future of one Whites-linked manager is now up in the air after a high-level resignation at his current club.
