Darragh MacAnthony brutally slams Leeds United trio Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson in relegation verdict

Darragh MacAnthony has brutally slammed Leeds United trio Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson.

The EFL chief believes the three players are partially to blame for the club’s relegation, as well as former director of football Victor Orta.

Orta left the Whites last month alongside manager Javi Gracia, while midfielder McKennie has since returned to parent club Juventus.

“This guy has come in and shifted the needle,” MacAnthony said about Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani live on talkSPORT. “Yes, they got relegated because they signed half the US Men’s National Team who weren’t very good.

“And a director of football who was there prior, who if he was made of chocolate he would eat himself. Lots of things have probably happened that Andrea would regret.”

Poor decision making

It’s been a long, long list of poor decisions made behind the scenes at Leeds, which have ultimately led to their relegation from the Premier League.

It was a long time coming for the Whites, who endured a miserable campaign in various areas, with three different managers employed to try and do a job in the dugout.

But Jesse Marsch, Gracia and Sam Allardyce all had issues, with their failures resulting in the club dropping to the Championship.

There wasn’t much hope of Allardyce turning things around to be fair, with Tottenham condemning the Whites to the second division with a 4-1 win at Elland Road on the final day of the Premier League season.

Fans will be desperate for the club’s fortunes to change over the coming months, but immediate promotion back to the Premier League is much easier said than done.

But given the resources available, and if they manage to keep some senior stars, the Whites should be able to make a return soon enough.

In other Leeds United news, the future of one Whites-linked manager is now up in the air after a high-level resignation at his current club.
