Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins to feature for Leeds United in friendlies this month
Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins are set to feature for Leeds United’s first-team in the upcoming winter friendlies this month, say the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The Whites are currently in Spain for a training camp ahead of the resumption of the Premier League season following the World Cup, and the two youngsters are part of the squad that travelled abroad.
With friendlies to come against Real Sociedad and AS Monaco once the team returns to the UK later this month, the YEP are reporting (8 December) that both of the summer arrivals are expected to play some part and will have the chance to impress first-team boss Jesse Marsch.
“Both players made their senior debuts for Leeds United in last month’s Carabao Cup defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers and have been included in the senior squad’s training camp at Oliva Nova this week,” they wrote.
“They are expected to feature in some capacity for the first-team in mid-season friendlies later this month versus Real Sociedad and AS Monaco once the team return to the United Kingdom.”

Leeds have always been a club to give chances to young players if they’re performing well and deemed good enough, and these to tick those boxes.
Mateo Joseph made his Premier League debut recently, and young players like Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto are all regulars in the first-team too.
Perkins and Gyabi recently featured in the Carabao Cup defeat to Wolves, but their individual performances in the youth team have been incredibly impressive and a step-up in level is certainly something that would be good to see for everyone.
With players still at the World Cup or still on holiday after performing at the World Cup, this is a chance for the players to show that they are capable of stepping up should the opportunity present itself during the season too.
Perkins is a goal threat and Gyabi is a powerhouse in the middle of the pitch, so everyone will be keeping their eye out to see performances.
In other Leeds news, the Whites are close to agreeing a new deal with a senior first-team player.
