Danny Murphy thrilled by Leeds star Mateusz Klich for Poland v Spain
Danny Murphy was left thrilled by Leeds United star Mateusz Klich for Poland against Spain on Saturday evening.
It was an end-to-end game in which the midfielder was controlling when in possession, finding Robert Lewandowski consistently with long balls.
Murphy was blown away, admitting that Klich caught his eye as a “very gifted” player in the Premier League last season.
Speaking during live coverage of the clash on the BBC, Murphy singled out Klich as the one trying to make things happen for his country.
“He’s technically very gifted,” he said.
“He’s comfortable in possession, I watched him a lot in the Premier League last season.”
Watching the game, it was clear to see that Klich had been with Marcelo Bielsa for the past three years at Thorp Arch.
Poland were sat deep in general, but the midfielder was consistently chasing down the ball from one side to the other of the pitch.
Klich almost scored an absolute rocket in the first half, but it clipped the bar when it looked as though it could loop over Unai Simon.
Murphy is usually the one pundit who has something negative to say about the Whites, but he couldn’t stop talking about Klich throughout the clash.
We are loving our players shining at the EUROs, it just shows how far we have come, even Ezgjan Alioski with North Macedonia, the so-called smaller countries.
Klich is the latest to catch the headlines, and there will be more positivity to come in the next two or three weeks across Europe; bring it on.
