Danny Murphy makes Leeds United comparison as Everton face relegation
Danny Murphy believes that there are no guarantees Everton will bounce back up after what happened with Leeds United.
The Whites faced 16 years away from the Premier League after getting relegated from it in 2003.
Much like Everton, they are a big club historically and nobody thought that it would have taken them so long.

Writing in the Daily Mail, the Sky Sports pundit admitted, “Everton have struggled for a while but to suggest relegation might be good for them is nonsense.
“There’s no guarantee they would be able to come straight back up — it took Leeds 16 years — and the impact would be huge.
“You can see by Everton’s injury-time equaliser against Leicester how much staying up means.”
Spot on
Sometimes it’s harder for these historically big clubs to bounce back up than it is for yo-yo teams like Norwich and Fulham.
The case with clubs like Everton and Leeds back then was that they had big players on big wages.
Relegation saw their financial model become unsustainable and they have to scrap things up and rebuild from the ground up.
This can be a seamless process or as is the case with Leeds, can take some time to get right.

New owners, new directors and whatnot could be needed to sort out the mess.
Thankfully, the Whites have managed to steer clear of the bottom three and they’re now in a comfortable position.
A couple of wins guarantees their safety and that should now be the aim.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
