Daniel Farke sack verdict at Leeds United as Graham Potter update emerges
Leeds United are said to be “big fans” of Graham Potter, after their play-off final defeat to Southampton raised questions about Daniel Farke, according to The Daily Mirror.
The newspaper reported in its print edition (27 May, page 47) that the 49ers Enterprises have the ambition to match their cash at Elland Road.
Farke’s side couldn’t find a way past Southampton in a 1-0 loss at Wembley, and the biggest question is whether they keep faith in the German to lead them back to the Premier League next season.
The Whites still won 90 points in the regular season – enough to see them promoted automatically in almost every other season – and it remains to be seen whether Potter would want to drop down to the Championship if asked.
Firing Farke would make no sense ahead of busy Leeds summer
Leeds United are set for another huge summer of upheaval following their failure to secure promotion, with several players likely to move on as the club rebuild ahead of another top-two push next season.
Farke inherited chaos upon arriving through the door at Elland Road last summer, as a whole host of players departed on loan deals which limited the club’s ability to purchase replacements.

The majority of those loanees will now return, giving Farke a bloated squad which will need refining massively, both by establishing which players must be kept and which others are to be jettisoned.
With so much change on the way this summer, and having proven he’s more than capable of stabilising a club shrouded in uncertainty, Farke has earned the right to a second season in charge at Elland Road.
A 90-point haul in your first campaign at a new club is also hugely impressive, and if Leeds can get their summer recruitment right, you wouldn’t bet against that tally being even higher in a year.
