Daniel Farke sack calls at Leeds United now extreme after developments

Micah Richards believes calls for Leeds United to sack Daniel Farke already are “extreme”, stating that they will still secure promotion.

The manager is already under heavy pressure at Elland Road after being winless in their opening three matches in all competitions, with frustration growing around the summer transfer window.

Having narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, Farke is expected to take Leeds up at the second time of asking, and Richards believes he can achieve that this term.

Speaking via The Rest is Football podcast on Wednesday (21 August), Richards said: “For Leeds, it’s so difficult. They’re like Aston Villa in that they’ve got such a passionate fanbase and the expectations are humungous.

“Leeds started the season with a 3-3 draw against Portsmouth. Aaronson could have scored a last-minute winner. I was reading on websites and Twitter, that fans saying that Daniel Farke should be out.

“That’s just extreme. I think they’ll be fine – I still back them to go up. I just feel that everything is scrutinised at this moment.”

Daniel Farke to take Leeds United back to the Premier League?

If there is one manager currently plying his trade in the Championship that can guide the Whites to success, it’s Farke.

The German has plenty of experience in the division with Norwich City, having led the Canaries to promotion on two separate occasions, so fans need to get behind him this season.

While Leeds have had a tough time in the summer transfer market, losing the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, Farke can hardly be blamed.

Frustration is also growing around the lack of signings being made at Elland Road, and while the manager has voiced his reinforcement needs, the hierarchy has yet to do anything about them.

With just nine days of the transfer window remaining, Leeds need to shift into a new gear when it comes to signing players, but there is a real fear that Farke’s current squad will stay as it is.
