Dan James makes new promotion admission in Leeds United transfer verdict

Dan James believes Leeds United are strong enough to win automatic promotion this season after a busy summer at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke’s side lost several key stars during the transfer window with the likes of Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter all departing for the Premier League.

The Whites did move quickly to make some major additions of their own in Manor Solomon and Largie Ramazani and attacker James believes that will help Leeds have enough to get over the line this season.

Speaking on The Second Tier Podcast (8 September, 16:10) he said: “Yeah definitely, we obviously sold players early but we’ve got quite a few in late on in the window and they’ve been great additions to the squad.

“We always knew that getting rid of players we had to bring some in and I think everyone was looking forward to it, but they’re great additions to the squad.

“It’s a long season so everyone has to be ready.”

Leeds United promotion verdict emerges at Elland Road after transfer update

As James suggests, while Leeds United have lost some major players this summer, they have quickly put together a squad that should still be competitive at the top of the Championship table.

There are so many players at Farke’s disposal who have experience in the Premier League or other top-flight leagues in Europe and they won’t have made the move to Elland Road to settle for another year in the Championship.

With the experience and disappointment of last year’s playoff campaign still fresh in the memory, everyone involved at Elland Road will be desperate to go one step further this year and win promotion automatically.

But as James suggests, it is a long season and there is a lot of football to be played between now and May. The Whites have started well and shown that they should be there or there about, but that will count for nothing if they don’t finish the job.
