Dan James injury update emerges at Leeds United ahead of showdown v Burnley

Daniel Farke is optimistic Dan James will be fit to feature for Leeds United in their clash with Burnley, according to Leeds Live.

The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (8 September) that the Whites boss is hopeful the Welshman will have recovered from his “minor” hamstring issue to play a part in Saturday (14 September) afternoon’s clash.

James missed Leeds’ win over Hull City before the International break and wasn’t able to join up with Craig Bellamy’s Wales squad for their Nations League fixtures against Turkey and Montenegro.

The winger himself admitted that he didn’t expect to be sidelined long-term despite being “gutted” that he wasn’t able to join up with his national side [The Second Tier Podcast, 8 September].

How bad is Dan James’ injury at Leeds United and Elland Road?

While Leeds United showed against Hull City that they are perfectly capable of performing without James, it would be a massive boost for Farke and the supporters to have teh 26-year-old fit and available once again.

Most pundits expect Leeds and Burnley to be two of the sides in the battle for automatic promotion back to the Premier League this term and it would be a massive boost to the Whites’ hopes if they found a way to get one over Scott Parker’s side.

James’ explosive pace and direct style adds a completely different dimension to Leeds’ attack and while the likes of Manor Solomon and Wilfried Gnonto may well start ahead of him, he could still have a role to play off of the bench.

Hopefully, Farke’s optimism hasn’t been misplaced and the winger does manage to make the cut for the visit of Scott Parker’s side on Saturday.

Whether the Welshman features in the starting XI or just from the bench, his return would be welcomed by both Farke and the supporters as Leeds look to kickstart their promotion push after the international break.
