Chelsea handed quadruple injury blow for Leeds United clash
Chelsea will be without four players for the clash against Leeds United on Saturday, manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed.
Trevoh Chaloba, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell have all been ruled out by the German.
Euro 2020 winning midfielder Jorginho has been ruled fit and available to play the game against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Kante is one of the best midfielders in the world and even on a bad day, he has the ability to keep the opposition players in his pocket.
Given Kalvin Phillips’ injury, an injury to the Frenchman along with Kovacic levels the playing field in some way.
Marcos Alonso, who is not the best defensively, will be tasked to keep Raphinha quiet, which will be a mouth-watering prospect.
Even the best of defenders struggle to cope with his quick feet and ability to win the ball back from the Brazilian.
Hopefully, the Whites start the game on their terms and press the London outfit as high as they can and suffocate them for space.
Technically, Chelsea have got the better players, but as we’ve seen last season, none of the big sides had an easy ride against Bielsa’s side and we’re expecting to see more of the same here.
This will be a good chance for someone like Rodrigo or Mateusz Klich to prove their worth to the Argentine and nail down a spot in his playing eleven.
