Chris Wilder: Leeds are missing 'huge' players through injuries

Wilder admitted that he is a big fan of Leeds, despite the history there between him and the club during his spell with Sheffield United.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2, Wilder was left piling the praise on the likes of Kalvin Phillips in midfield.

“I think Marcelo runs with a small squad, or smaller than usual,” he said.

“They’re huge players for them – Ayling is a huge player, Bamford is a huge player. I like Leeds, history, there’s a bit in there.

“Phillips coming back, England international and the boy today, today he was a different class.”

Nearly there.

Welcoming back the likes of Phillips recently has been a major positive, as well as the heart of our defence nearing full strength.

Junior Firpo and Luke Ayling should be back for the game against Leicester next week, and that would be a huge boost too.

The main one is Bamford, though.

Rodrigo has stepped up in the last couple of weeks, scoring twice, but we need our English international back available – that couldn’t be clearer.

Having Bamford back fully fit and fighting will be critical, especially with tough games against the likes of Leicester and Spurs coming up.

The next international break is only one game away, and that two-week break could be critical in welcoming back our entire squad.

We already can’t wait – bring it on.
