Chelsea may tempt Raphinha to leave Leeds United

Chelsea want to sign Leeds United attacker and long-term transfer target Raphinha in the summer, according to Football London.

The report claims that the Brazilian has been on the Blues’ radar ever since they conducted extensive scouting missions for Eduoard Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga.

They’re understood to still be in the hunt for the 25-year-old and could tempt him to leave in the summer transfer window.

Will he leave?

Raphinha sacrificed Champions League football at Rennes to join Leeds in the summer of 2020.

This was seen as a bold move but it paid off as he enjoyed a terrific first year at Elland Road.

Few backed the Whites to finish in the top half, but they managed to achieve that feat against all odds.

However, this season, things have been slightly different and it remains to be seen whether Raphinha still wants to be a part of this team.

Marcelo Bielsa’s future is up in the air as well and there are no guarantees that he stays beyond the end of the season.

Should he leave and the investment continues to be appalling, Raphinha may have very little incentive to stay.

At Chelsea, he would not only be a guaranteed starter, but would also play in the Champions League and challenge for all the trophies that they compete for.

The next few months are key in shaping Raphinha’s decision for the foreseeable future.
