Casilla agent delivers update after cryptic social media post

Kiko Casilla caused a real stir on Tuesday night when he posted a fiery Instagram story that seemed to hint that he was leaving Leeds United.

His agent has now said he doesn’t believe it was about Leeds but admitted that Casilla “would like to play more”.

In the post on his Instagram page he said, “I’m slow to go because I believe in changes.

“And I hope and I endure and I keep. But one day I get tired and without saying anything I leave everything and go. Believe me that once I get tired I won’t come back again, because I give everything before I leave.”

Leeds fans took that to mean that he was off, if not now then at the end of the season.

The post came after he was dropped for the game against West Ham on Monday night.

However, his agent has rowed back on the meaning.

Talking to lufcfanzone, who quoted him on Instagram, he said, “He has 2 more years at Leeds and is more than happy there.

“Like every player, he would like to play more, however Illan is doing a very good job and Kiko is always close to support him.

“I don’t know the exact meaning behind his posts, but I don’t believe it is about Leeds United.”

Reacting to Casilla’s post on Tuesday night, Athletic journalist Phil Hay said he thought the keeper was “likely to move on”.

lufcfanzone recently dropped a big exclusive interview with Illan Meslier’s agent Xavier Fluery.

No dice

Casilla’s agent is well aware of how his Instagram post will look and what it could mean for his future.

He’s trying to row things back for the sake of his client but it’s not going to work.

Footballers don’t post messages like this on social media unless it’s connected with the club, it would be beyond naive.

If his agent reads the comments from fans that follow his explanation he might realise that this ship has sailed.

Casilla wasn’t popular at Leeds before this tantrum. His standing is even worse now and comments like, “I’ll drive him to the airport”, and “Open the door & push him through. Not needed or wanted” sum up what a big proportion of the fanbase thinks.

We don’t know if it will be addressed in the pre-match press conference tomorrow but we don’t expect to see Casilla on the bench for the Chelsea game on Saturday.

And, unless something dramatic happens, we don’t expect him to play for Leeds again.
