Carlton Palmer has urged Leeds United to target Manchester United winger Daniel James in the January window.
The Whites have been linked with the Welsh international numerous times since a move collapsed between the two back in 2019.
Palmer believes that his need to play football more regularly could see him favour a move across to West Yorkshire in the near future.
Speaking to Football Fan Cast, Palmer believes that James would be the perfect fit for the Whites in the Premier League.
“I’d go for James, I think he fits into the style and the model that Leeds have,” he said. “I think he’d be a good fit and he needs to play football.”
The Sun reported that Marcelo Bielsa was a long-term admirer of James, and claimed that they could launch a £12million-plus offer.
That never materialised and the 23-year-old has only featured three times this season in the Premier League, completing 180 minutes.
Leeds have moved on
It has been some time since the Whites have been linked with James.
Leeds and Bielsa have moved on to bigger and better things, and that includes Raphinha, who scored his first Premier League goal against Everton on Saturday.
The Brazilian was superb and proved that the £17million could already be classed as a bargain at Elland Road.
Raphinha left Champions League football to join Leeds, and James wouldn’t even switch limited minutes at Old Trafford for Elland Road, so his chance has gone.
The 24-year-old scored with an expected goal total of 0.29 according to WyScout and completed four progressive runs as well as four touches in the Toffees’ area.
He was a constant threat and made the likes of James a distant memory.
