Sean Morrison makes Cardiff claim ahead of clash v Leeds

Cardiff City captain Sean Morrison has claimed that Sunday’s game against Leeds United is season-defining for the Bluebirds.

Leeds travel to the Welsh capital sitting top of the pile in the Championship, with Cardiff currently two points of the play-offs.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are seven-points clear of third-placed Fulham, and a win in their first game back would give them real momentum.

Morrison and his side are out to disappoint Leeds, just as they did back in December coming from three goals down to draw 3-3.

“I am really looking forward to that one,” he told the EFL.

“Obviously before we went into isolation and lockdown, that week would probably have been a season-defining one for us, as we’d got ourselves into a fairly good position just outside the Play-Offs.”

Every game is a final between now and the end of the season, with Slaven Bilic even calling this month a mini-World Cup.

Looking back at the Cardiff draw, it was a dark afternoon for Leeds. The Whites were without Liam Cooper and that was evident as Bielsa’s men struggled in-the-air all afternoon.

If the home side come out all guns blazing, they will get picked off just as they in the first half at Elland Road. Neil Harris has already admitted that many mistakes will occur in the game, but that’s hard to expect from a Bielsa side.

Leeds kept 69.3% possession and had 15 more shots on goal that afternoon, as well as completing more than 300 passes and if that happens again, you best believe that the Whites won’t make the same mistakes twice [WhoScored].
