Burnley manager Vincent Kompany likened to Marcelo Bielsa during Leeds United stint
Former Manchester City defender and now Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has been likened to former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa.
West Brom player Jed Wallace recently drew these comparisons as the Clarets are top of the Championship table and all set to return to the Premier League.
Kompany only joined them in the summer and has imparted his philosophy to them pretty quickly.
Speaking to BBC Football Daily’s 72+, Wallace said, “They’re very, very good.
“The only team I could compare to them and similar in styles with the energy and high line, they’re so unorthodox, in the way they play would be Leeds under (Marcelo) Bielsa.
“I do think Burnley are one better.”

Levels to go
Kompany has been impressing for one season and he’s already being compared to Bielsa, which is baffling, to say the least.
He’s even got the admiration of Pep Guardiola who wants him to replace him at Manchester City as he’s a former Citizens captain himself. [Goal]
However, he took over a Premier League side that got relegated and still had good enough players to jump back up.
Playing good football when you’re expected to win most if not all games is easy and we’ll see how they fare in the top flight.
Bielsa continued the same philosophy in the top flight as well and registered famous wins against the big boys, playing an open and expansive brand of football.
In many ways, the Argentine seems to have spoilt the Leeds fans as they’re often finding it hard to get behind Javi Gracia’s style of football.
In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
