BT Sport pundit slams ‘suicidial’ Leeds United trio for what they did v Arsenal

Steve Sidwell was unhappy with the defensive efforts of Leeds United trio Cody Drameh, Luke Ayling and Robin Koch in the 4-1 Arsenal loss.

Discussing the tactics on Premier League’s Analytics Show, the BT Sport pundit highlighted plenty of situations when the three were found all over the place.

He noticed that they failed to keep track of the players around them, which led to Leeds’ downfall.

Sidwell said, “That is suicidal from the Leeds defenders here. Watch how Ayling gets sucked in and neither of these two (Drameh and Koch) follow what he does. Even Ayling should be doing better.”

Not good enough

It was an abhorrent performance from the Whites and no amount of criticism justifies quite how bad things were.

To blame this entirely on Marcelo Bielsa or even the players is unfair as it was a collective flaw in the system and everyone should share equal responsibility.

One might let Drameh off the leash as he was starting his first ever Premier League game.

However, for Ayling and Koch to appear like amateurs is not a good look, especially given where Leeds are in the table currently.

There were no indications in that performance that makes us believe there will be a different display against Liverpool.

We will not be surprised if the Reds run up a cricket score and beat the Whites convincingly on the day.
