Efan Ekoku waxed lyrical of Illan Meslier for the one-on-one save he made in the Leeds United v Brighton Premier League clash.

Solly March was clean through on goal after Brighton looked to hit Leeds on the counter and he would’ve opened the scoring had it not been for a confident save from the Frenchman.

There was little he could’ve done to stop Pascal Gross from scoring the winner in the 66th minute as Brighton won 1-0.

Ekoku, a BT Sport pundit, said on the Premier League world feed, “Top class save. Narrowed the angle to close down the attacker. Phenomenal.”

Good performance

Meslier was arguably the best Leeds performer on the day and the scoreline could have been a lot worse had he not pulled out some top drawer saves.

He was composed whenever he had the ball at his feet as well and it’s not really his fault that the Whites failed to get anything from the game.

The Frenchman looks so much more mature than the player who made his Premier League debut two seasons ago.

It can be argued that he’s one of the best goalkeepers under 23 in the world and performances like these aren’t going to go unnoticed.

It won’t be long before he’s in contention to get called up to the France squad and we cannot be happier for him.

Hopefully, Leeds manage to keep hold of him beyond this season as he’s a real talent who’s only going to get better.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could make a final push for an international striker after he was left out of his side’s matchday squad last weekend.
